Jamie Campbell Bower compares “Twilight” and “Harry Potter”

Actor Jamie Campbell Bower (“Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”) joins the “Twilight” film franchise with the sequel “New Moon” as Caius, one of the leaders of the Volturi vampire coven.
“We are basically the vampire government, I guess. We’re there to sort of keep all the vampires in check. People keep describing us as evil. I wouldn’t say we’re evil necessarily. We’re the government and not everybody likes the government, which is fine. So, we’re there to keep everybody in check. Without us … it would be vampire anarchy,” he said during a recent “New Moon” press conference in Los Angeles.
The British actor also is a newcomer to the “Harry Potter” franchise. He is playing Gellert Grindelwald, an old wizarding friend of Albus Dumbledore, in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I” and “Part 2.”
“The ‘Twilight’ phenomenon cinematically is relatively young so there’s still a lot of growth there to go with the film and there’s still a lot of connections to be made between cast and crew and stuff, whereas with ‘Potter’ they’ve been going for 10 years now. It’s a machine, ‘Potter.’ You go in, you do your thing and then you go on, whereas with this, it’s a lot more finding out about everything and a lot more exploration to do in general,” he said.
“They’re still working on it. They’re shooting simultaneously because they’ve obviously got lots of time scheduled and they have to do both side by side,” he said.
“At the moment, I’ve only worked on it for about a week. I think I’ve got another week and a bit to go.”
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” Week continues here on BAM’s Blog, and of course, Friday is the big day. Not only is the film opening, but I’ll have features on Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart, along with my review of the movie.

Weekend Box Office Roundup: ‘Twilight’ Shows its Fangs

We knew this was going to be a weekend dominated by glam vampires, protective werewolves, and a brooding teenage girl. But very few expected The Twilight Saga: New Moon to sink its teeth to the tune of $141 million. Sandra Bullock may not have fangs (as far as we know), but she does seem to have eternal life in the movie business as The Blind Side fared very well, bringing in $34.5 million. Rounding out the top five this weekend was 2012, which added another $26.5 million, bringing its disaster stow to $108 million, animated aliens kiddie-flick Planet 51 with $12.6 million, and Disney’s A Christmas Carol with $12.2 million. Precious, which was released in more theaters this weekend, also had a strong showing, bringing in $11 million.

No Nude Scene in ‘New Moon’

As many of us are learning, Jamie Campbell Bower is a prankster! The nude scene he referred to a few days ago to MTV.com was just an actor spicing up an otherwise dull interview process. No nude scene will be added to ‘New Moon’ as confirmed by director Chris Weitz. Weitz sent this email to MTV
I would like to put everyone’s mind at rest and let them know that the Volturi are not naked! Jamie (Campbell-Bower) has what you might call a dry sense of humor and almost managed to convince me — which is why he’s such a good actor.
Anyway, be assured that, even though we do want the look of the Volturi to be a bit of a surprise, they are always — as in the book! — fully clothed.

‘New Moon’ Naked Scene?

Is ‘New Moon’ getting seriously steamy or what? First Taylor Lautner got crazy hot muscles for his part as Jacob, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart togetherness rumors are rampant and now there is a nude scene! Deviating totally from the book, Jamie Campbell Bower says that a scene has been added with himself, Michael Sheen and Christopher Heyerdahl (Caius, Marcus and Aro Volturi) sitting in a bathhouse, nude.
Peter Facinelli’s character, Carlisle Cullen, used to hang out with the Volturi back in the day, so the scene shows Carlisle meeting up with Aro, Caius and Marcus, only to find them relaxing in a bathhouse.
“It’s a full-body shot, and then Peter comes in, and it all gets a bit awkward,” Jamie explains. “[Carlisle] is clothed completely. They’re bathing in sort of a Roman bath kind of thing.”
